Called to Joy
In his message for the 55th World Day of Prayer for Vocations, Pope Francis emphasizes each Christian’s vocation to joy. This vocation is placed before our eyes anew on Christmas: “Even amid these troubled times, the mystery of the Incarnation reminds us that God continually comes to encounter us. He is God-with-us, who walks along the often dusty paths of our lives. He knows our anxious longing for love and he calls us to joy.” Each person is called to be a witness of the Lord here and now, whether in the married life, as a priest, or in a life of special consecration, as Pope Francis states. With a view to the life of Jesus he unfolds the three aspects of listening, discerning, and living as the basis for every vocation.
